As with all new toys in my kit, I always take them out to play before taking it on assignment. I picked up the Canon 16-35mm f/2.8 L II. Right after getting home with it Rain and I headed to the park with her favorite ball.
The lens shows relatively little distortion on the APS size sensor at 16mm and still remains creditably sharp. I may just go out and say that the 16-35 is sharper than the Canon 24-70 f/2.8 L I. Even wide open at 2.8 then lens still seems fairly sharp.
The build seems great and sturdy as with most of the L series glass. The lens is a nice size to hold on to but is too heavy. Much lighter than the 24-70.
I am looking forward to using it on my next assignment.
